MYMUSIC - 2005

Rzepczyno

Rzepczyno remains true to its artistic path, its roots and the sources from which it sources. It is also faithful to its sound, which is determined by an excellent combination of typical rock instrumentation with more folk – though not always – sounding accordion and violin. Rzepczyno increasingly boldly combines folk playing with rock, punk and reagge.

On his second album, Rzepczyno proves the consistency of his explorations and, at the same time, the courage and constant development. The musicians break rhythms and break the rules, move freely through different sounds and atmospheres. They do not shy away from jokes – not only musical ones, but they can also play a sentimental note. They are getting better and better vocally, both in the solo parts and the choruses. Their increasingly conscious play with folk has positively embracing.

It confirms that it is not only highland folk that is (sometimes) inspiring and thrilling. Hot are also „lowlands”, and at least a few songs on the new album are real „gems” of Polish folk-rock music. folk-rock music.

The debut album by Rzepczyno was promoted with the song „Gajowy”, which was accompanied by an animated video. animated music video. The entire print run was sold out. „This phonogram has its own style. It is joyful, motoric and unpretentious playing based on varied arrangements. Into a rock warp are woven folk instruments

and lyrics, the adaptation of which can serve as a model for others. Both traditional instrumentation and lyrics are not introduced „by force”, but find justification in the whole. It is also worth noting that there is a sense of humour in this music – and without any posturing, grimaces or nods to convivial folklore. Past experience shows that it is not easy to play folk-rock. This phonogram, however, proves that close folk music inspirations can be an accessible, distancing, assimilable and rewarding form of music-making. rewarding form of „plugged” music-making. Its strength is its sharp, punchy style, the thoughtful and logical form of the songs, the interesting riffs and the rich sound. The authors of this phonogram have developed something new and friendly .”
